Driving in Belgrade gives you the freedom to explore the city at your own pace, but finding a parking space—especially in the city center—can sometimes be challenging. Most on-street parking spaces are part of Belgrade's paid parking zone system operated by Parking Servis, and the rules vary depending on the parking zone.
Before leaving your vehicle, always check the parking signs. They display the parking zone, maximum parking time, payment hours and available payment methods. Parking should be paid immediately after parking your vehicle.
How to pay for parking in Belgrade
Parking in designated zones can be paid in several ways:
- by sending an SMS message;
- through the official Parking Servis mobile app;
- by purchasing an electronic parking ticket at selected sales points or from parking attendants (where available);
- in public parking garages, where payment is usually made upon exit by cash or credit/debit card.
Paying by SMS
If you are using a Serbian mobile phone number, simply enter your vehicle registration number in the SMS message and send it to the number assigned to the parking zone where your vehicle is parked.
Important: Your parking session is considered valid only after you receive a confirmation SMS from your mobile operator. If no confirmation arrives within a few minutes, Parking Servis recommends using another payment method or sending the message again.
What if you have a foreign mobile number?
If you are using a foreign SIM card (for example, from Germany, Austria or any other country), simply adding the Serbian country code (+381) is not enough. The SMS payment system is primarily intended for Serbian mobile networks, so messages sent from foreign mobile operators will generally not be processed successfully.
For this reason, foreign visitors are advised to use the official Parking Servis mobile app or public parking garages where parking can be paid by credit or debit card.

What is an electronic daily parking ticket (eDPK)?
If you fail to pay for parking or exceed the maximum permitted parking time, Parking Servis will issue an Electronic Daily Parking Ticket (eDPK).
Although many people refer to it as a "parking fine", an eDPK is not a traffic fine. It is an electronic daily parking charge issued by Parking Servis. If paid within the prescribed deadline, you are entitled to a 50% discount.
Today, eDPKs are issued electronically, so you will often not find a paper notice placed under your windshield wiper. You can check whether an eDPK has been issued by entering your vehicle registration number on the official Parking Servis website.
Does Parking Servis use wheel clamps?
Yes.
Parking Servis may install a wheel clamp ("boot") on a vehicle in order to collect outstanding parking charges.
A wheel clamp may be used when there are unpaid eDPKs and the vehicle owner or driver cannot be identified through the official records of the Republic of Serbia. In practice, this measure is most commonly applied to vehicles with foreign registration plates, while unpaid parking charges for Serbian-registered vehicles are usually collected through the regular legal procedure.
In addition, a wheel clamp may be installed at the request of the Municipal Police if a vehicle is illegally parked in a location where it cannot be removed by a tow truck.
Be a responsible driver
Finding a parking space in Belgrade is not always easy, but parking on sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, green areas or any other prohibited location is never a good idea.
Besides receiving an Electronic Daily Parking Ticket (eDPK), an illegally parked vehicle may be towed away or fitted with a wheel clamp, resulting in additional costs, unnecessary delays and avoidable stress during your trip.
Always park only in designated parking spaces, pay for parking immediately after leaving your vehicle and carefully check the parking signs. Spending just a few extra minutes can save you from significantly higher costs and unnecessary inconvenience.
